A petition from the 191 Alliance to the Henderson County Commissioners, and French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization
Revise the 191 Four-lane Expansion Project
(NCDOT R-2588B)
We, the undersigned, oppose NCDOT's current plan to widen NC-191 to four median-divided lanes between Boylston Hwy and Mountain Road and call on NCDOT to propose a new improvement plan.
Since the Balfour project has been cancelled, we maintain that the data used to determine the widening of NC-191 no longer applies and was inaccurately interpreted from the beginning.
We petition the aforementioned government entities to completely redesigned the current NCDOT R-2588B project in order to reflect the more accurate traffic volume and accident statistics, and that the redesign be approved by residential vote from the following voting precincts: Long John Mountain, Rugby, South Mills River, North Mills River, and Northwest

We are still short of our desired 3000 signatures to put a stop the NC-DOT's crazy plan to widen 191 to 4-lanes. We are wanting the county commissioners to request a redesign with public input and approval (vote). Please ask ALL of your friends, whether they live here or not, to sign the petition.

Please let everyone you know in Henderson County about this petition. While the petition concerns the widening of 191 to 4-lanes specifically, it is also a referendum on all county projects that our county commissioners, the French Broad River Metropolitan Planning Organization, and NCDOT approve of without our input and their lack of open communication and transparency.
