These Chemicals Poisoned Entire Towns in Europe. The UN Must Ban Toxic 'Forever Chemicals' Now!

Families across Europe are finding out their tap water -- the water they drink, wash with, let their kids play in -- has been slowly poisoning them. Terrifying levels of PFAS, dangerous chemicals linked to cancer, infertility, and immune diseases, have been identified in towns in Sweden and France, just to name a few.

What's even worse? PFAS are also known as 'forever chemicals,' because they never break down. Once they're in your body, they stay there…forever.

Sign the petition to demand the United Nations step in and protect the global community from PFAS!

In Sweden, the entire town of Kallinge drank water contaminated by PFAS for decades. The chemicals came from firefighting foam used at a nearby military base. Now, even the young children of Kallinge have toxic levels of PFAS in their blood -- thousands of times higher than what experts say is safe.

And in France, 60,000 people just learned they can't even use their tap water anymore -- the town of Saint-Louis became the site of France's largest ban on tap water use. Families rushed to buy bottled water after learning PFAS had been leaching into their tap water for years.

This is a nightmare, and it's not just happening in Sweden or France. Across Europe, there are more than 23,000 known locations that are contaminated with PFAS. In Italy, Belgium, Germany, the UK, and beyond, people are at risk.

And it's not only humans. Wildlife is suffering, too. In the US, alligators in North Carolina are growing painful wounds that won't heal. In the Arctic, seals and their pups are getting sick. Tree swallows in Wisconsin are struggling to have babies. Researchers found that all of these animals have had heightened exposure to PFAS. Forever chemicals don't just harm people. They poison entire ecosystems.

While there is an effort to phase out the firefighting foam at the center of the crises in France and Sweden, PFAS are still everywhere. From non-stick pans to waterproof jackets to food wrappers and electronics. PFAS are found in the blood of almost every person on the planet. How has there not been more of an effort from the global entities meant to protect us to get rid of these poisonous chemicals?

It's time for the United Nations to step in. If the UN adds PFAS to the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), which is the global treaty that regulates and even bans dangerous chemicals, we can stop this crisis in its tracks. That means less PFAS in the environment, less in our water, and less in our bodies.

Sign the petition now to demand the UN take action and finally ban these forever chemicals before more communities are poisoned!
