I, the undersigned, would like to petition the committee behind the Singapore Chinese Culture Week to extend the event to a month, making it an annual Singapore Chinese Culture Month.
Currently the Singapore Chinese Culture Week has seen great success from both locals and foreign visitors. Held from September 9 to 13, it is simply too short a time to highlight the uniqueness of Singaporean Chinese Culture. Furthermore, with two multi-million dollar Chinese Cultural Centres in the works (the China Cultural Centre in Queen Street, and Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre in Shenton Way), extending the Singapore Chinese Cultural Week to a month may indeed be in line with the Prime Minister's objective of reinforcing the unique Singaporean Chinese culture.
From a host of activities such as Chinese calligraphy, photography, art and more, we're certain to benefit from the extension of the cultural week. Thank you for considering this.
