League of Legends on ESPN
In the present, competitive gaming is one of the most followed and watched professional sports in the world. In 2012, the number of viewers of the League of Legends world finals was on par with that of the super bowl. If league of legends and other esports have such a large fan base, it begs the question, why doesn't ESPN cover it? I want to be able to go to a sports bar on Saturdays and watch the latest game of the LCS. This petition should be signed so that being unable to attend a live tournament will not keep you from watching the game in the prescence of other fans. If the fan base of esports is as strong as it is now, imagine how it will be if people go to Duffey's to watch League of Legends in stead of football. League of Legends' following can only grow larger by this. I want league of legends to be featured on ESPN in time for the 2013 world tournament, you should too. Sign this petition.
Dear John Skipper,
I don't know how much knowlege you have of the rising popularity of esports as a streamed and followed sport, but the League of Legends world tournament in 2012 had almost as many viewers as the superbowl. I believe that featuring the 2013 League of Legends World Finals on ESPN would evoke a very positive response from the community. There may be some sports fans who may not watch the Tournament because, as with all sports, no person is a fan every one. However, there is such a large fan base for professional League of Legends that ratings will be as high as any sport. Thank you for your consideration.
