In less than two decades, our aging population will be twice as large as our youth population.
This demands that our healthcare infrastructure grows alongside our healthcare needs. Currently, there are outdated policies in Medicare that can improve by the Improving Access to Mental Health Act (S. 782/H.R. 1533). This policy will provide greater access to our elderly within Skilled Nursing Facilities.
Essentially this will increase the number of professionals that are able to assist with mental, social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
Mental Health care is very limited in these facilities and may only occur when families strongly advocate. Although frustrating, we can improve this system so everyone elder can receive the care.
Sign this petition pledging to vote for this upcoming policy and to urge your local legislators to cosponsor this bill.
