Give Us a Break: Make Weekends Homework-Free for Students!
My name is Joshua Sinath-Reynald, and I’m 11 years old. Like many students, I work hard all week at school—and then I go home with even more work to do. Weekends should be a time to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. But for many of us, they feel just like extra school days.
That’s why I’m starting this petition to ask schools to give students homework-free weekends.
We’re not asking to avoid learning—we’re asking for balance. Studies show that rest helps our brains grow, and that too much homework can lead to stress, anxiety, and burnout—especially for young people.
- I’m asking schools and education leaders to:
- Set aside at least one weekend a month with no homework
- Give students time to relax, play, and enjoy life outside of school
- Trust that rest is part of learning too
We all want to do well in school. But we also need time to be kids.
Please sign this petition and help make weekends a time for rest—not more pressure.
