I was shocked to learn that a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums is involved in the trading of monkeys to laboratories.
It is unacceptable that these sensitive animals, ripped from their families and homes, are then subjected to the stress of being packed into small crates and shipped for ZOO to end up in laboratories where they will suffer in experiments.
In 2016 - 2017 Vietnam Airlines had shipped 490 Macaques to AMAZONIA ZOO (Russia) and in March 2017 Aeroflot Russian Airlines delivered 45 Macaques to the same consignee. 195 of which were transferred to the Research Institute of Experimental Pathology and Therapy, ABKHAZIA. The remaining 340 Macaques were taken to laboratories on the territory of RUSSIA.
I’ve found that AMAZONIA ZOO (Moscow Khimki) is a member of the Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos & Aquariums (EARAZA) - see page 183, link: http://earaza.ru/wp-content/uploads/inf-35-eng.pdf
EARAZA itself is a member of WAZA (Word Association of Zoos and Aquariums)
Join me in asking EARAZA (WAZA) to Stop using the ZOO as transit point in primates trade for animal testing.

One of the members of your association - AMAZONIA ZOO (Moscow Khimki) is importing on regular basis primates (macaques) for medical research from BINH LONG (VINA MEKONG GROUP), Binh Phuoc Provinces, Vietnam.
The use of the ZOO for the trade of animals for experiments is a very serious violation of the EARAZA & WAZA Code of Ethics which harms the animal welfare, community's common interests and other members reputation.
I urge you to STOP involving members of your association in this cruelty in relation to animals and using the ZOO as transit point in animals trade for unmentionable experiments.
