Mahatma Gandhi said: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated............. I hold that the more helpless a creature, the more entitled it is to protection by man, from the cruelty of man."
Sow crates are being used to keep fully grown pigs alive while they are being fattened up for market. They cannot stand up, turn around or nurse their piglets and frequently squash the little ones to death as they cannot even turn their heads to see where the babies are. It is worse than force feeding of Geese or battery raised chickens. Pigs are the most intelligent of all animals and it is inhumane to allow this barbarism to continue any longer. The farmers look at the financial gain and not at what is acceptable civilized treatment of animals. Its time they were held accountable for this despicable barbarsim. Money cannot compensate or ease their consciences and this must end without delay of another single day.
