Demand all police officers have sensitivity training!

In recent events, there have been several injuries and deaths to those have a disability caused by police officers who do not change their tactics to fit the situation. My brother has Down's Syndrome and has been screamed at by 10+ officers which made him shut down and not respond at all. Their answer? To smack him hard on the elbow with a night stick. There is also the death of Ethan, a young man with Down's Syndrome, who was suffocated to death by officers for a $9 movie ticket.

Officers need to tailor their tactics to fit the situation and who they are dealing with. Those with mental illnesses or special needs will not act the same way as a person without those needs. Every police officer, chief, investigator, even desk clerks, needs to have training on how to approach and resolve the situation without having deaths or using harmful tactics. Let's get the State of Texas to approve this and then work our way to the White House and make it a federal mandate!
