Mikrosians, We are in the middle of a global public health crisis. People around the world are taking urgent and drastic action to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus that poses such a dire risk to us all. Our government has told us that "All Canadians should stay home," the WHO has urged that the time to act is now and people all across this country are shutting themselves in their homes for the benefit of basic public safety.
There is no denying that we all take our jobs seriously at Mikros and we all go above and beyond on a daily basis to work long and hard for Mikros. There is not one among us who doesn't step up with extra hours and extra effort anytime we are asked. In this time of urgency we need to turn to our employer to return the gesture of support, do the right thing and to act quickly. While we all agree that we do great and important work and nobody wants this business to suffer unnecessarily, it is also true that we provide one of the least essential services. Businesses across this city and country have closed their doors to allow their employees to go home and stay home. We all have families, loved ones and people that depend on us to do the right thing for their safety. Most of us are unable to risk our pay check to defy our employer and do what we know is right and we therefore depend on Mikros to have our best interests in mind when they make the difficult decision to close their doors for the foreseeable future and send their employees home with pay now.
