End World Cup Gender Pay Discrimination

After this year's women's World Cup, the excitement on social media was palpable. Soon there were reports that it was the most watched soccer game on an English-language channel in American history.

With such incredible performances by the U.S. team and their first-place ranking, one would think these athletes would be handsomely rewarded, considering sports salaries across the board. But the post-game coverage has revealed that salaries for these athletes are reportedly between $6,000 and $30,000. Each team operates with a salary cap of around $200,000, whereas the male teams have a cap of $3.1 million. This is more of a pay gap than almost any other industry, especially considering the U.S. male team is ranked 27th and the women's team is ranked 1st.

It is unacceptable that FIFA doesn't prioritize gender pay equality despite the huge profits they make on these events. Ask FIFA to immediately remedy the gender pay gap for the women's teams.
