Demand for Safety in the Workplace from Sexual Harassment
We, the undersigned employees of IPIC Theaters, formally and urgently demand the removal of the rehired employee who was previously terminated, albeit after a slow response, following an undisputed sexual harassment incident.
The decision to reinstate this individual is unacceptable and creates a hostile, unsafe, and unstable work environment. It directly contradicts the organization’s stated commitments to employee safety, zero-tolerance harassment policies, and consistent disciplinary standards. The Texas workplace sexual harassment laws under SB 45 call for liability if there is a claim of sexual harassment and the employer:
1. Knows or should have known that the conduct was occurring; and
2. Fails to take "immediate and appropriate corrective action."
Our Position Is Clear:
The prior findings that led to termination cannot be ignored or minimized. Rehiring an individual with a confirmed policy violation places employees at risk. Staff confidence in leadership has been significantly damaged. Allowing this individual to remain employed is an ongoing threat to workplace safety and organizational integrity.
We therefore demand the following actions without delay:
1. Immediate termination of the referenced employee.
2. A written explanation of how this rehire was approved despite documented misconduct.
3. A reaffirmation of the organization’s zero-tolerance policy and a clear plan to prevent similar decisions in the future.
Failure to act promptly will further undermine trust in leadership, violate employee expectations of safety, and expose the organization to unnecessary risk.
We submit this petition with the full expectation that leadership will take swift and decisive action.
