Dear patients, friends and those who value choice in Healthcare,
Our choice in healthcare is clearly under attack in this country. Dr. Lisa Hosbein's medical practice is under attack by the California Medical Board. The Medical Board is recommending burdensome disciplinary actions against Dr. Hosbein because another doctor in the region disagreed with the care she provided for one of her patients. The patient was and is very satisfied with the care Dr. Hosbein has provided and has no complaints against Dr. Hosbein.
This threat to Dr. Hosbeins practice is much bigger than just one doctor. This attack by the Medical Board is a microcosm of the following anti-patient trends,
• A very narrow interpretation of the "standard of care" which limits the ability of doctors to use cutting edge holistic treatments in their care of complex and difficult conditions.
• Aggressive disciplinary actions against doctors who have not harmed any patients.
There's a time to observe the trends around us and a time to take a stand. Now is the time to stand up for choice in healthcare. Every patient is unique. As you know, many of Dr. Hosbein's patients have already tried treating their illnesses/conditions with multiple prescription medications, procedures and lifestyle changes with no success. It is important that other safe options be available to patients who choose to try other approaches to get better.
This is what we are defending.
