Tell the Pro-Hunting National Wildlife Federation to Stop Defrauding Donors

Yesterday, the Care2 Campaigns Team sent out an action alert requesting a donation to the pro-hunting National Wildlife Federation to help safeguard polar bears.  The National Wildlife Federation, together with the National Rifle Association, are the primary backers of the Sportmen's Heritage Act of 2012.  http://www.examiner.com/article/sportsmen-s-heritage-act-2012-congress-failed-to-pass-on-monday  This bill would require the Secretary of the Interior to issue permits for the importation of polar bear trophies and also require that all federal lands be opened to hunting. (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/112/hr4089/text) That isn’t safeguarding polar bears!

The National Wildlife Federation’s website shows lots of pretty pictures of animals and descriptions of how the organization works to protect them.  However, hidden behind this smokescreen is the organization’s true purpose - supporting “the vital role that hunting, fishing and trapping and sportsmen and sportswomen play”. (Resolution Number 1997-05 available at http://nwfaffiliates.org/index.php by searching “Number 1997-05”)  Most people who contribute to the National Wildlife Federation would probably be shocked to learn that their contributions are being used to fund this pro-hunting agenda.

Tell the National Wildlife Federation to stop pretending it is a wildlife protection organization and to start informing potential donors it really is a pro-hunting organization.
