In 2017, Bart Alsbrook resigned as interim police chief in Colbert, Oklahoma. This came about after it was revealed to the public that Alsbrook had deep ties to militant neo-Nazi groups. Although he denied such ties, there is numerous evidence including two separate documentaries in which Alsbrook appears on camera talking about his involvement with skinhead organizations.
Since then, Alsbrook has been hired as a reserve officer in Achille, Oklahoma. Though this decision has come under fire, both the chief of police and the city government have come to Alsbrook's defense, claiming that he was no longer affiliated with neo-Nazis, having left that life behind.
Whether or not that is true, it is completely unacceptable for anyone with any connection to white supremacy groups, past or present, to work within law enforcement. Being an officer is a very sensitive and important profession that cannot be successful if populated by individuals who see some members of their community as inferiors.
As such, this petition is calling for the City of Achille to dismiss Alsbrook from their police department immediately. Please add your name if you believe intolerant, hateful individuals have no place in law enforcement!
