Repeal the "Defense Of Marriage Act"

Help bring hope to gay couples by asking Congress and the President to overturn the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Overturning DOMA would end a range of discriminatory practices against gay couples and mitigate the damage caused by recent anti-gay ballot measures.
DOMA explicitly prohibits the Federal Government and all federal agencies from extending any federal marriage-based benefits, privileges and rights to same-sex couples. This means tax, pension, visitation, inheritance and legal standing rights granted to opposite-sex couples are denied to gay couples.

Ask Congress and President Obama to repeal DOMA.
Congress and President Obama,
I am an American concerned about preserving civil rights for all our citizens. An attempt to strip some Americans of their rights will eventually threaten the rights enjoyed by all of us.
Therefore, President Obama, please act on your prior opposition to DOMA:
The Defense Of Marriage Act "should be repealed and I will vote for its repeal on the Senate floor. I will also oppose any proposal to amend the U.S. Constitution to ban gays and lesbians from marrying. This is an effort to demonize people for political advantage, and should be resisted ... .
When Members of Congress passed DOMA, they were not interested in strengthening family values or protecting civil liberties. They were only interested in perpetuating division and affirming a wedge issue."
Please help bring hope to the GLBT community by repealing DOMA.
