Stop the suffering of "dancing bears" in the Punjab region of Pakistan!

Sloth bear cubs in Punjab are forcibly taken from their mothers when they are newborns and sold as "dancing bears". The mother bear is almost always killed in her attempt to defend her cubs.

The bear cubs then have a rope drilled into their snouts and all their teeth are pulled out without any use of pain medication. Males are typically castrated without anesthesia as well.

The "owner" of the bear cubs then pulls on the rope to get the cubs to "dance" for the entertainment of locals and tourists alike. They are forced on their little hind legs while they writhe in pain from the rope which gnaws at the wounds in their noses.

These bears are never given proper nutrition, but are fed only bread and milk as their diet. Many bears who are actually rescued don't even know how to eat a fruit because they never have seen one before. Some become so unhealthy that they even go blind.

Dear Mr. Latif Khosa,

It is on the behalf of us who are concerned with the welfare of the wild sloth bears in the Punjab region that we kindly ask you to take action in any way you see fit against those who forcibly take young bears from their mothers in order to use them for entertainment purposes. It is our goal to protect the sloth bears from further torture, mutilation and malnutrition caused by the people who use them for profit.

With kind regards,

Noruvui Kureshento
