Make Toronto Stadiums Waste-Free!
Every game or concert at Toronto stadiums generates thousands of single-use disposable items, like plastic cups, containers, utensils, and more, used once then tossed into the garbage.
It doesn't have to be this way. Major events around the world are shifting to reuse such as reusable cups and dishware. From the Paris Summer 2024 Olympics to the 2025 National Bank Tennis Open in Montreal, reusables replaced single-use disposable items across venues, drastically reducing waste and the environmental impact.
Toronto can, and should, follow suit. The Toronto Environmental Alliance (TEA) is calling on the City, stadium operators, and event organizers to stop using throwaway cups and other disposables in Toronto stadiums and commit to reusable alternatives.
This simple shift will significantly cut pollution and waste, and protect our environment.
