Dominion just submitted its long-term, 15 year energy plan, to the State Corporation Commission (SCC) and it does not include any large scale solar or wind for Virginia!
Dominion's lack of investment in clean, affordable, renewable energy keeps Virginia stuck with dirty coal energy and the unstable electricity rates that come with it. Fortunately, the State Corporation Commission (SCC) is accepting comments on the plan until May 1st, giving you and me an important opportunity to show our support for clean energy.
Send a message to the SCC and Dominion urging them to invest in a clean energy future for Virginia.

Dear Virginia State Corporation Commissioners and Dominion,
Dominion's long-range energy plans should include major investments in efficiency, wind and solar, to ensure the utility will meet Virginia's statutory goals for efficiency and renewable energy with Virginia-made resources. Dominion's current proposals fall far short of these goals.
It is time for Dominion to stop holding Virginia back. Dominion is using its dominant market position to prohibit Virginia from developing clean energy and increasing our energy efficiency in a meaningful way. These efforts are depriving us of the ability to curb demand so that we are not wasting energy, and clean energy jobs that neighboring states are creating by the thousands. Dominion's lack of efficiency is keeping our average monthly bills high, and over-reliance on fossil fuels is making us sick by unnecessarily polluting our air and water costing us a fortune in health expenses.
Dominion's proposal to retire the Chesapeake and Yorktown coal-fired power plants makes good economic, public health, and environmental sense, and I urge you to approve these plans. These plants are over 50 years old and cannot meet current standards to ensure our communities have healthy air and clean water. Dominion customers' hard-earned dollars should not be spent to prolong the lives of these plants, especially as alternatives exist that do not rely on fuels that are costly to purchase and burn.
Dominion could bring 3,000 MW of renewable energy on line by 2020; enough energy to power 700,000 homes. I urge the SCC to support increased investments by Dominion in Virginia's clean energy resources, to ensure we meet Virginia's statutory goals of 10% efficiency and 3,000 MW of offshore wind energy.
It is time for Dominion to stop holding Virginia back. The SCC needs to ensure that Virginia has a plan from Dominion that starts to envision our clean energy future.
