Save the Amazon Rainforest's watershed
Only recently has the tropical savanna known as Cerrado in Brazil been opened up for development but currently it is being developed at a faster rate than the better known Amazon rainforest. Not only this but less than 2 percent of this diverse grassland has been protected and there not a major move such as the movement for the rainforest to conserve it. Protecting it is necessary to conserve biodiversity and to protect the watershed of the Amazon Basin. What I propose is that Care2 at least temporarily set up a click to donate for this endangered wilderness.
We the undersigned are concerned for the ecological health of the Cerrado region. The Cerrado region is very important but on the world scale is unknown. I am concerned because unlike the rainforest to the North there is almost no move to stop it. Recently it has been opened up for agriculture due to soil corrections and is developing more quickly than the well known Amazon rainforest. The Cerrado region is a very important and diverse tropical savanna gives birth to many of the rivers of the Amazon Rainforest. As a part of the Amazon Basin it's watershed must be protected. Less than 2 percent of this diverse grassland has been protected and there is a hardly a move to stop it. Please for these reasons at least set up a temporary click to donate.
