Urge the Director General of Police to take action against officer for sacrificing buffalo

Urge the Hon`ble Director General of Police, Assam state, Shri D.N. Dutt to take action against a high ranking police officer for brutally participating in a buffalo sacrifice.
India is one of the few countries in the world which has framed stringent laws for the protection of animal rights and animal abuse. One such law is the 'Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960'.The Indian Police has been empowered to take offenders to task, file FIRs as and when a crime/ offence or a violation of the PCA Act takes place. But what happens when high ranking Police officers themselves start practicing rituals of animal sacrifice and that too in front of the media in a barbaric manner.Well, this certainly brings a bad reputation to the Assam Police organisation which has always been extremly supportive to animal welfare organisations and individuals in help fighting animal abuse in the state.Let us all join hands and demand some action be taken against Mr. Dilip Kumar Dey, a high ranking official of Nalbari district of Assam who was seen carrying the severed head of a buffalo on his head and actively participating in a ritual sacrifice in Nalbari, Assam on the 1st of October` 2006 where altogether 20 buffalos were sacrificed to please the Goddess Durga. Please write to the Hon`ble DGP, Shri D.N. Dutt to prevent more officers in the Police from participating in such acts and take necessary departmental action aganst the offending officer.Let us all recall what our Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi ( Bapu ) said :" The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals".
