Children Deserve Health Care

With health care costs rising rapidly and private insurance coverage falling, nearly 10 million children in our country have no health insurance at all.
Uninsured children often go without needed health care. They are:
|
|
- 70 percent less likely than insured children to receive medical care for common conditions like ear infections; and
- 30 percent less likely to receive medical attention when injured.
- Nearly half of all uninsured children have not had a well-child visit in the past year.
|
There are many ways to make sure that all America's children have health insurance. Numerous specific proposals have been offered by health professionals and concerned policy-makers across the country.
But for action to happen, parents and voters have to weigh in and demand it.
Send a letter to your Senators - tell them it is scandalous for our country to have nearly 10 million uninsured children. Let them know that you want them to take action immediately to remedy this disgraceful situation.
Dear Senator,
I am writing to ask that you take immediate action to make
sure every child in America has health insurance.
America is too strong, too prosperous and too moral to allow
nearly 10 million of our children to be uninsured. This is especially
scandalous when we know that uninsured children are much less likely to get
needed medical care for common conditions, like ear infections, or for
childhood injuries. We need all our children to grow up to be strong, healthy and productive adults.
There are many proposals to make sure all children have
access to health care. Most important is that you and all our nations leaders
immediately take action to remedy this disgraceful situation.
Sincerely,
[your name]
