Demand the Australian government enacts a GM contamination insurance scheme to protect organic farmers!

A motion to create a national GM contamination insurance scheme has come after an organic farmer lost organic certification for more than half his farm after GM canola drifted on to his land.

West Australian organic farmer Steve Marsh, failed to sue his neighbour Michael Baxter, after genetically modified canola drifted on to his land from Baxter’s property.

Mr. Marsh now faces a legal bill of almost $804,000.

The motion will be tabled in the Western Australian parliament and will call on the Federal government to create a national GM contamination insurance scheme that ensures any loss of income is funded by levies on GM crops.
