This petition calls for the immediate impeachment of President George W. Bush in the event of a further domestic terrorist attack.
Whereas the American invasion of Iraq has inflamed anti-American sentiment around the world, boosted the recruited ranks of our enemy Al Qaeda, and in the opinion of qualified and dedicated intelligence professionals, provided a "gift" to our enemies that they had never dared hope for;
Whereas members of the Bush administration have clearly betrayed the national security interest in the unresolved and unpursued case of formerly undercover CIA weapons of mass destruction operative Valerie Plame, and made it more likely that a weapon of mass destruction will reach American shores;
Whereas the public revelation of the secret arrest of Pakistani double agent Mohammed Naeem Noor Khan by the Bush administration has dismayed our allies, revealed a vital secret to the enemy, and harmed our efforts to pursue the trail of Al Qaeda wherever it may lead;
Whereas this misconduct, ineptitude and mishandling of the war on terror, in the opinion of dedicated public servants in the intelligence community, have increased the threat of terrorist attack on American soil:
We the undersigned hereby call on the Congress of the United States, in the event of further domestic terrorist attack, to commence impeachment proceedings immediately against President George W. Bush, whom we shall hold responsible for gross bungling, misconduct, and failure in the war on terror.
