I agree with the Constitution of Virginia in Article 1 Section 1, specifically when it notes:
"That all men are by nature equally free and independent and have certain inherent rights, of which, when they enter into a state of society, they cannot, by any compact, deprive or divest their posterity".
It is the basic premise of this statement which leads us to believe that if we are indeed each independent, and have certain inherent rights-which cannot be stripped from future generations, then abortion is by nature, unconstitutional. The first human right, and perhaps the most important, is the right to life.
In an abortion, you are allowing one party to strip the other party of their basic human right - A right which the VA Constitution inherently protects.
I am signing this petition and sending this letter to you today, because I wish to further restrict, or even end abortion in our Commonwealth. I feel that it is the duty of your office to end this direct assault on the basic right of all mankind, the right to life.
