PETITION AGAINST THE TRUE FURQAN AND ITS AUTHORS
This petition is addressed to all, irrespective of their religious beliefs, who think that spreading religious hatred is a crime against humanity, and leads to increased intolerance in the world. People follow their own religious beliefs all over the world and we all need to respect the right of persons to follow their own faiths..
Some persons, who may be individuals or agencies, have created a book titled THE TRUE FURQAN. It purports to be an authentic copy of the HOLY QURAN, which is a book respected by Muslims the world over as a text revealed by God himself to Prophet Mohammad, may peace be upon him. The TRUE FURQAN is a book which distorts the teachings of the HOLY QURAN and is the handiwork of elements who are inimical to Islam. There are also a number of websites which seek to do the same, such as the following:1. www.answering-islam.org

This contraband book is available in an Arabic and also in an English version. It is sold through many channels including the well-known on-line book selling website, www.amazon.com There are readers comments on the Amazon website also which condemn the book. Those comments are available for reading by anyone going to that website.

Taking cognizance of the hateful act as embodied in the production of THE TRUE FURQAN, this petition announces as follows:
Whereas one fifth of the population on earth (1.2 billion) follows the religion of Islam, which they hold to be a true revealed religion, we condemn attempts by its opponents who seek through false and clandestine methods to pervert its message and thereby to create dissentions amongst believers of different faiths. This leads to escalating tensions in the world. These tensions are a root cause for hatreds amongst followers of different religions, which leads to human rights violations and homicides. Religious intolerance is one of the worst problems confronting the world today. We therefore ask governments of all civilized countries to take cognizance of violations of religious beliefs of other people and to take all possible measures to contain and eliminate this criminal behavior amongst their citizens in the interest of world peace and harmony
