We the undersigned believe that Australia should stop incarcerating children in detention centres. These children have suffered enough. They come from war-torn countries where they feared constantly for their lives. Some have lost their parents, putting them directly at the mercy of your government.
Incarceration is not good for a child's mental or physical well-being. Some children have turned to self-harm, and even those who don't go to such extremes have their development negatively impacted.
Please consider stopping this abhorrent practice. Thank you for reading our petition.
