They begged the cops to arrest their son.
Told them he had to learn a lesson. That he needed some tough love.
His dad said he went to court and withdrew himself as his surety. Told a justice of the peace his boy wasn't following his bail conditions. Was ignoring his curfew, hanging out with people he'd been ordered to stay away from. Dad said he'd had enough.
He wasn't going to watch over his eldest child anymore. Wasn't going to put up with the shoplifting of video games, the muggings for iPods, the stealing of cars.
The surety was withdrawn and at that moment, the 16-year-old from Oriole Crescent became arrestable for breaching his probation.
That was June 14.
Twenty days later, police arrested the teen.
And charged him with murder.
Chantele Varona-Fetterly, 16, was stabbed in the heart on the front steps of her own Oriole Crescent townhouse. She died on her living room couch while her mom tried to breathe life into her.
This youth offender was already on bail at the time of Chantele's murder!
He is no stranger to the law and he CLEARLY knew his actions were reprehensible!
He NEEDS to be tried and (if proven guilty) sentenced as an ADULT!
