Enforcement of the Barbados Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill 2007

Original petition letter:
The Barbados Government enacted a law against animal cruelty in 2007 however these laws are not being enforced. Offenders by and large are not being charged for offences against animals or they just receive a slap on the wrist. Furthermore, approximately a week and a half ago, a large dog was found hanging from a tree in St. Lucy Barbados. There was convincing evidence that he was tortured. Dog fighting and cock fighting is also a big concern here. Dogs are often cruelly tortured and discarded when they don't win the fight. It is a no win situation in many cases for either dog in the fight. Horses have been sexually molested on the pastures where they are tied. Animals are frequently poisoned as revenge against a neighbour. Cows have been butchered alive on pastures. Please sign this petition.
PETITION TO THE BARBADOS GOVERNMENT
We the undersigned are appalled by the lack of enforcement of the animal cruelty laws in Barbados.
1. We demand government enforce the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Amendment) Bill 2007 by charging and punishing offenders.
2. We demand that the government facilitate through education and community awareness the rights of animals.
