PLEASE RELEASE MARISOL GARCIA (W#56974)
We the undersigned are writing to express our utmost support for the release of Ms. Marisol Garcia on parole. This woman has suffered abuse throughout her life, taken responsibility for the crime for which she has served her sentence and transformed herself into a responsible person of high integrity.
Marisol Garcia is an inspiration and model of resilience. Her story is heart-breaking and hardly one that points to her as being any threat to society. Marisol has worked very hard to heal from childhood physical and sexual abuse, human traffiking, and terrorization of herself and her children at the hands of her %u2018crime partner%u2019. The fact that she has not been further broken by such a long period of incarceration, but has used that time to grow as a mature person of accountability with great insight into her part in the crime, is highly commendable. This insight caused the examining psychologist to note in Ms. Garcia%u2019s most recent psychological evaluation that she %u201Creadily acknowledged her participation in perpetrating her index offense%u2026and evidenced ostensibly genuine emotional distress and remorse for perpetrating the crime.%u201D
Ms. Garcia is currently active as a leader in AA/NA, ALANON, and CODA. In addition, she was recently made chairwoman of Convicted Women Against Abuse has enabled her to address abusive situations and to react in a positive manner and avoid relationships with abusive persons. Her English language proficiency has progressed from no English to fluent English. This will enable her to use her bi-lingual skills for successful employment and assist others pursuing a second language.
Since Ms. Garcia accepts responsibility for her crime, expresses remorse for her actions, has maintained an outstanding disciplinary record for the past 17 years and has grown tremendously, I urge you to grant her parole. We are confident that Ms. Garcia does not pose a danger to society and that any community would benefit from her presence.
