Recycling is a major component of waste reduction efforts.
It is a positive way individuals can protect their environment and reduce the impact of climate change, while also providing many benefits for our economy.
A few of the many environmental and economic benefits of recycling are:
- Minimizing the need to harvest and mine virgin materials, preventing habitat and natural area destruction and disruption.
- Creating more jobs than managing waste does alone, resulting in stronger local economies.
- Diverting waste from landfills, extending their useful lives.
If all these things are so useful then why does the state of Michigan force you to pay for recycling then also benefit from your recycled goods?
That means the state makes even more money off of you - while you are just trying to help the environment for all.
In contrast, the state of California the state does not raise taxes to provide free recycling services - waste companies and other businesses choose to do the recycling for free - because they see all the benefits that are provided from it.

PURPOSE:
This petition is to show the state of michigan & the state's government that the people of michigan will recycle if given the opportunity to do so without any fees [would be provided by companies & endorsed by Michigan's government]
This means that different services will pick up the recycled goods for free -
& yet the state government and other services will still make money off of these recycled goods [amazing i know!]
Please help the state of michigan & its government realize that recycling is the best chance a citizen gets to help out the environment we live in.
Show them your desire to recycle, but tell them how you are unable to do so because of the fee that is imposed on you, the citizen
Why
not make recycling easier,
more appealing,
and not only help out the environment,
but the economy
and stop charging us to recycle!
