Repeal death penalty laws for homosexual acts.

This petition addresses the inhumane treatment of homosexuals in various countries of the world right now through exceedingly harsh laws that advocate the death penalty for consenting adults caught or suspected of committing homosexual acts.

Other countries who do not advocate the death penalty for homosexual acts, do have laws sentencing homosexuals to lengthy prison terms for homosexual acts.

These harsh laws and punishments are not right and send many gay men and women to their deaths and subject them to assault, rape and death in poorly regulated prison systems where inmates and even gaurds with a criminal mindset prey on and abuse homosexuals and others at will, exposing them to torture, deadly diseases and intense suffering.

The following countries punish homosexual acts with the death penalty:

Mauritania-death penalty/imprisonment
Nigeria-death penalty/imprisonment (particuliarly in Islamic/Sharia areas)
Saudi Arabia-death penalty/imprisonment
Yemen-death penalty/ imprisonment
Iran-death penalty imprisonment

Many of the countries that have these laws enforce them through the Muslim system of law and courts called Sharia.

There have been several studies suggesting that homosexuality has a genetic basis and that this genetic maladaptation makes the female relatives of gay men who share their DNA more fertile. (see Slate Magazine article from June 25, 2008-"Sexual Antagonism....A Genetic Theory of Homosexuality" by William Saletan.)

Studies have shown a corrolation between this increased fertility or number of offspring by these women to be directly related to the "gay" gene these women share with their male relatives who are gay, so this suggests an evolutionary advantage to women who carry this gene, the advantage is they produce more offspring and the unfortunate side effect is that a small percentage of their male offspring will be gay bacause of this same gene.

Their is believed to be a similiar genetic maladaptation working in gay women since the population of women who are gay in relation to the total population is similiar to that of gay men.

The percentage of men and women who are gay is estimated to be about 1% or 2% of the total population, this figure seems to be pretty consistent around the world.

Those involved in debates concerning homosexuality should make an effort to differentiate between homosexuality that appears to be simply decadent or experimental and homosexuality that appears to be genetic or from birth because their seems to be a great deal of confusion concerning this matter.

Hopefully further research involving genetics and homosexuality will clarify these points and make these issues less confusing.

We the undersigned agree with the sentiments of this author and wish for the heads of the governments of the countries of Mauritania, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates,Yemen, Iran and other countries who have and enforce death penalty and imprisonment for committing consensual homosexual acts among adults to repeal them as other developed countries have.

If these countries want to create and enforce new laws, how about laws to better regulate and stop rape and assaults in your prison systems. How many young offenders in these counties get raped and assaulted in their prisons. I'll bet these statistics are hard to find.
