This petition is in response to the decision by the Douglass Project to not rehire Lydia Louis as a graduate mentor of the Bunting-Cobb Residence Hall of Douglass Residential College
Dear Deans and Administrators of the Douglass Project, Douglass Residential College, and Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey,
We, the undersigned colleagues past and present mentees of Lydia Louis, ask that you reconsider the decision not to rehire Ms. Lyida Louis as a graduate mentor of the Bunting-Cobb Residential Hall for the next academic year of 2011-2012.
We feel that Lydia is an integral part of the Bunting-Cobb Community, Project SUPER, and the Douglass Project. She sincerely cares about every student she meets, and is always available for advising, help, or even tutoring.
Lydia has been a graduate mentor for about seven years now. During her time at Bunting-Cobb she has effectively instated countless helpful programs, including the Tutoring Program for science students and the Annual Faculty Networking Dinner, which connected current students to professional scientists.
In addition to these programs, Lydia has been a constant source of help for students. She has aided her mentees with their personal, academic, and professional needs.
We believe the decision to not rehire Lydia Louis is injudicious. By affixing our signatures below, we would respectfully ask you the Douglass Deans and Administrators to review this petition, the support it shows, and consider favorably the hiring of Lydia Louis. We also thank you for reading this petition and taking the time to consider our position.
Respectfully,
Colleagues and Current and Past Mentees of Lydia Louis
