Tibetans are not Chinese

Dear President Hu Jintao,                                           July 29, 2010

It was recently reported that there is a new movement of Chinese workers moving to Tibet to generate money, however there is also a pressure from China to force the Tibetans to become more Chinese.

In one experimental school, in order to be competitive when they get out of school, they must speak Chinese and learn in Chinese.

Tibetans resent this movement because they are a different type of person, with their own language and culture.

While it is normal for persons form one country to blend with persons from another country, it is not normal to force the Tibetans with Chinese securities to become more Chinese.

This movement is very much like the invasions of the Americas, when the indigenous Native American Indians and South American Indians had a separate lifestyle, and yet were invaded and taken over by the English and Spanish explorers and conquistadors.

Overall the history of Tibet has been for agreements of certain other countries to have control over the land of Tibet, while in agreement that Tibetans would be left alone, free to practice their own religions and beliefs, and their culture, and the change of land use wasn%u2019t ever really a factor until now.

China has repeatedly reneged on these agreements, by forcing Tibetans to view their religious leader as an enemy because he is the leader of Tibet as a separate nation, form China.

Tibet is another land and country, although it is controlled by China, Tibetans are not Chinese and should not be forced to be Chinese.

Please allow Tibet to exercise their rights as human individuals to be Tibetan and not force them to be Chinese.

        Namaste,
