Urge Irish Lottery To Fund Animal Shelters

With the deep recession in Ireland since 2008, animal shelters and animal charities have found fundraising increasingly difficult, particularly from corporate donors.  The Irish National Lottery has a policy of not providing grants to any animal welfare charities or shelters.  Please sign this petition to request the Irish National Lottery to review its current policy and to start providing grants to the increasingly hard-pressed shelters and sanctuaries who are barely able to operate at present.

Dear Sir/Madam

We the undersigned request that the National Lottery immediately review its policy of not providing funding or grants to animal shelters/sanctuaries in the Republic of Ireland.

As you must be aware, such shelters as Dogs Aid, P.A.W.S. and Limerick Animal Welfare among many others have high monthly operating costs and are increasingly stretched in terms of their fundraising to maintain the quality of care they provide for vulnerable animals who have often experienced severe neglect, abuse, or other truamatic experiences before being rescued and cared for by highly dedicated shelter staff.

We believe that such shelters and sanctuaries are highly worthy of funding from the National Lottery and that such funds are necessary to enable the shelters' staff and volunteers to continue to provide the high standards of care they are committed to.

Thank you for your consideration.
