We are looking for residents of West Hartford who support the creation of an enclosed dog park in our town to allow for the exercise and socialization of dogs in an off-leash environment. We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act now to create dog friendly space in West Hartford.
We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens of West Hartford who want to work together with our town leaders to create dog friendly space in the town of West Hartford. We are requesting that the Town Council initiate a site search within West Hartford to identify two acreas of space to be used for an enclosed dog park. We believe that a dog park is needed in West Hartford as there is currently no space for dogs to run legally and safely off-leash.
A dog park would benefit dogs, people and the Town in many ways including:
Providing a safe and controlled environment for dogs to exercise resulting in reduced aggression and improved socialization.
Provides our senior citizens, disabled citizens, citizens without significant yard space and apartment/condo dwellers with a place for their dogs to to obtain the exercise needed.
Provides an outlet for dog owners to socialize.
Increases the Town's appeal.
Discourages crime in the surrounding area.
Promotes responsible dog ownership and encourages dog licensing.
