2013 PTO Policy

Diversified has always allowed employees to schedule PTO two weeks in advance.

This worked because not everyone has a set schedule where they can predict what they will be doing 2 months in advance.

I've spoke to employees that have Dr Appointments or other things that come up throughout the year and they agree that the new policy would not work using 'floating time'.

Floating time only allows non-exempt employees an allocated time of 40 hours for 5 years of service. This breaks down to 5 days that can be used with a 2 week notice throughout the year.

People who have kids, family, and other responsibilities outside of Diversified need PTO to be flexible like it was prior to this change so that they can deal with things that they have no control over and come up throughout the year.

The change of the PTO policy isn’t justified by the need for staffing when someone takes off.

I've worked at Diversified for nearly 6 years and I've played the role of supervisor for 2 years with over 10+ people reporting to me. When an employee would request two weeks off in advance I was always able to allow it and still make TAT on all projects they would normally be working on.

If the 2012 policy wasn't working for Diversified then a better policy that considers both Diversified needs and the employee needs should be created.
