WOTC ULTIMATUM PETITION 2018
We, the members of the Magic the Gathering (MTG) community, hereby give notice to Wizard of the Coast LLC (WotC), a subsidiary of Hasbo Inc., regarding our intention to boycott your product unless the following demands are met. If these demands are not met before 1 June 2018, we will cease all purchasing of MTG products and will urge our Local Game Stores (LGS) to cease purchase of all MTG products.
Our demands are as follows and they are not negotiable:
1. The deficient quality of product is to be immediately addressed, to include the premature warping of cards and the decrease in print quality. These issues are well known in the community and we are confident that WotC is fully aware of these issues, yet it has been ineffective at resolving these deficiencies. Denial and dismissive behavior will not be tolerated.
2. WotC will refrain from activities involving the social policing of consumers to include banning consumers posing no physical threat to other players or WotC. It is not the role, nor should it be within the authority of WotC or its representatives to establish social norms, or launch punitive measures that restrict or control the free opinion of consumers which take place outside of WotC property. Note that we believe WotC has every right when those consumers are on WotC property or attending events solely funded by WotC.
3. WotC will establish publicly defined standards, with the clear goal of ensuring fair distribution and reasonable margin of profitability to all of Wizards Play Network (WPN) members. Manipulation of the market, distribution bias, and pricing bias will no longer be tolerated, as it erodes availability of products and causes erratic conditions in product value.
