Warner Bros. Discovery MUST be acquired IN FULL!

  • mottagare: Warner Bros. Discovery, Netflix, Paramount Skydance

Whether by Paramount Skydance or Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery just has to be bought in its entirety. It simply must not be broken in half.

While the main reasons may apply predominately to certain parts of Warner Bros. Discovery, they are vitally important reasons nonetheless.

The leading reason can be summed up in one word... Turner.

In enough ways, Turner Entertainment remains an active entity under WBD. Now if you're Turner Entertainment, consider all the networks you brought into this world (CNN, TBS, TNT, TCM, Cartoon Network, and truTV); only TCM stays with you under Netflix while the so-called "Discovery Global" wants to take all of the others away from you. Certainly with TBS and TNT standing for "Turner Broadcasting System" and "Turner Network Television" respectively, it shouldn't be hard to grasp why that's just plain wrong!

And boy, will Cartoon Network get hit hard! [A] By means of separation from its other "birth parent" Hanna-Barbera, the company behind a number of Cartoon Network's early original shows and another still-active WBD entity via its European studio (which once went under the Cartoon Network name), and [B] by means of the Cartoon Network company and production studios getting trapped under Netflix while the network itself is prayed upon by Discovery. We're talking about ripping Cartoon Network into smithereens here!

Here's the worst part: Discovery only wants the networks, not their TV show catalogs. Pathetic. Nothing but pathetic. It'd be interesting to see Ted Turner, the creator of Turner Entertainment, get reached out to and give his take on all this.

Also, the fact that Netflix doesn't want those other cable networks even though they'd be entering cable TV anyway with HBO and Cinemax (and, for that matter, broadcast television with the various ABC, NBC, CBS, and CW shows that WBD is currently behind) leans towards being hypocritical in my opinion. Heck, it's amazing Netflix doesn't want Food Network or Cooking Channel, what with the multiple Iron Chef shows it has put out in recent years!

Of course if Paramount Skydance was to buy WBD, there are the added bonuses of such networks as MTV, Nickelodeon, and Comedy Central getting reunited with Warner Bros. and the two non-Nexstar pieces of The CW becoming one, which would be beautiful...

...but whether or not past bonds can be rekindled, avoiding the destruction of current ones is the main goal of this appeal. At the very least, Paramount Skydance would be practically keeping corporate families together, an idea Netflix and David Zaslav ought to be willing to embrace as well, instead of foolishly trying to act like certain parts of WBD aren't inseparable from each other. This is essentially a case of multiple parents in danger of losing custody of their children, and in no world does that need to happen.

Please help convince WBD to keep itself in one piece no matter who buys it.
