Opt out of airline meals when booking your tickets

We are receiving more and more information on the detriments of our food in plastic. We are also becoming more and more aware of the amount of waste headed to the landfills. Many of us are more than willing to forgo airline food since it is delivered in plastic. However, this is not currently an option. Even if you refuse the meal and never touched it, they are not recycled or donated, but simply discarded. We would like to see airlines offer the option of opting out of an in flight meal when booking our tickets. This would save the airlines money in food preparation and waste disposal.
