When you are born, you are born with the same human rights as everyone else. You have the right to live and love. Why isn't marriage granted to anyone and everyone? Marriage has no color, sex, or race. If you couldn't marry the person you loved, it would break your heart, wouldn't it? That is why I present this petition to you to sign to support everyone who wants the right to marry their true love. Marriage also has benefits that Civil Unions do not offer.
1. According to Roger Baldwin is his 2011 article “Should YOU Get a Civil Union in Illinois?” he stated that the benefits Civil Unions do NOT get include any spousal benefits (Baldwin 2011).
2. He also included federal spousal employment benefits (survivor benefits), and the right to file joint federal tax returns (Baldwin 2011).
If two different people got married, and you did not approve, would it affect your life in any way, shape or form? Absolutely not. So why control who other people can marry and try to make their lives miserable?
