This petition is directed at the NY Knicks organization:
After leaving the Golden State Warriors in "82", returning back home to NYC and to play for his hometown team, the NY Knicks...which was a dream come true for him and his family. Bernard King became one of the most explosive and prolific scorers for the NY Knicks. Setting all kinds of records during the "84" season, scoring back to back 50pt games and being the first player to accomplish this in the NBA for the first time since the "64" season and he even followed this up by scoring 60pts in a game the following season in a losing effort by the Knicks against the New Jersey Nets, becoming only the 10th player in the history of the NBA at that time to accomplish this. Also during the "84"-"85" season he led the NBA with a scoring average of 32.9pts per game. He was twice selected to the All NBA First Team & was a four time NBA All Star. He led the Knicks in scoring with that 32.9pt barrage and no one has ever done it prior or since and he's also one of the 50 Greatest NBA Players Of All Time!! Had he not tore his ACL, tore his knee cartilage and broke his bone in that leg as well and unfortunately ended up eventually being released by the Knicks, he and Patrick Ewing would have more than likely led the NY Knicks to another title. So, for all that he has done for and in his number 30 NY Knicks Jersey, for the NY Knicks who has him ranked in the top 10 at number 6 as an All Time Knick great, his jersey should be retired and they should also have a Bernard King day installed in the Mecca of Basketball, at Madison Square Garden.
