In July 2012, Quintessence, citing breach of copyright, requested that these hugely popular tools to help track readers’ progress with the lists be removed from sale.
In signing this petition, you support our plea to the publishers that
- far from harming sales of the book series, the spreadsheet/app products actually help to promote them
- there is a large and growing fan base for the books worldwide in part because of the popularity of the spreadsheet/app products
- they lobby licensees of the series to enable release of the spreadsheet/app products to the market
- there is increasing demand for portable apps to support their series
- integrating their content with the spreadsheet/app tracking capabilities would make an ideal product which would have combined market potential greater than either the present books or the present spreadsheet/app products
- they work with the spreadsheet and app developers to capitalise on the popularity of these products and to improve them
