This is not just one man's struggle; it is a window into a predatory practice where the fear of deportation is weaponized against the very people who have paid for legal defense. Mr. Jimenez is expecting his first child on July 9th, and he is currently without counsel because his life savings were taken. We have preserved audio evidence of these threats and have reported this firm to the FBI and the State Bar.
Why I'm Concerned
As the Attorneys Accountability Network, we believe that when the legal system is used to bully the vulnerable, the entire community is at risk. If an attorney can threaten their own client with deportation over a billing dispute, then no immigrant family is truly safe. We are concerned that there are dozens of other families who have been silenced by these same tactics and are currently suffering in the shadows, afraid to speak up.
