Lynn Lofthouse Should Be Removed from Wesley College Faculty

Lynn Lofthouse is Associate Professor of Speech Communications at Wesley College. She has spoken and written in the newspapers a number of vicious, unwarranted attacks on three people who have broad-based support in the community for their good work in helping animals: Karli Swope, Tyler Mock and Cindy Woods.  A communications professor at a reputable college should not resort to character assasination and libel. Here is the Cape Gazette article in which Lofthouse calls Karli Swope and Tyler Mock "criminals" for raising funds through a chipin and getting 52 Safe Haven animals to the vet so far. http://www.facebook.com/notes/charlie-charlies-angels/the-trouble-with-charlie-drama-abounds-at-safe-haven-animal-sanctuary/236090409871687

Dear President Johnston
We ask that you immediately request the resignation of Lynn Lofthouse from the Wesley faculty. She has spoken and written in the newspapers a number of vicious, unwarranted attacks on three people who have broad-based support in the community for their good deeds in helping animals. Lofthouse is the spokeswoman for Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary.  She makes a point of telling everyone she is a Wesley professor so people in the community now associate your college with the character assasination of people who are completly innocent of any wrongdoing.
Lynn Lofthouse called Karli Swope and Tyler Mock "criminals" in an August 30 Cape Gazette article. That is libel, pure and simple. Lofthouse is absolutey wrong when she said that it is "fraud" for karli Swope and Tyler Mock to raise funds for Safe Haven animals via a chipin fund. A total of 52 Safe Haven dogs and cats have gottten veterinary care with the chipin fund. Safe Haven has such serious financial problems that it is unlikely the animals would have gotten vet care otherwise.
In addition, Lofthouse wrote two outrageous columns in the Cape Gazette that attack Cindy Woods, the former director of Safe Haven Animal Sanctuary. When Woods transferred Safe Haven cats to a rescue group and arranged the adoption of a dog, her actions were totally consistent with her job duties. Lofthouse is completely out of line when she wrote that these actions were "a breach of ethics."
It is totally inappropriate for a Wesley professor to libel good citizens who have worked hard to help animals and who have broad-based support in the community. Lofthouse is tarnishing the good name of Wesley College by accusing Karli Swope and Tyler Mock of "fraud" and by calling them "criminals" and by accusing Cindy Woods of a "breach of ethics."
We urge you to prevent any further damage to the reputation of Wesley College by requesting the resignation of Lynn Lofthouse.
Thank you for your attention.
