Demand Officers Who Pointed Guns at Family Over Accidentally Stolen Doll Be Fired and Charged!

Last month a black family of four in Phoenix was followed home and confronted by police after an employee at a Family Dollar claimed one of their toddlers took a doll without paying for it.

Videos of the confrontation have circulated, showing officers pointing their guns at the parents and, using crude language, threatening to shoot them. At one point, they continued to threaten the mother, Iesha Harper, while she held her 4-year-old daughter. The father, Dravon Ames, was also thrown against a police vehicle and kicked, despite not offering any resistance.

A lawsuit from the family says their civil rights were violated. Ames continues to have a limp and their daughter has regular nightmares and wets the bed. This is beyond outrageous.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego has publicly apologized to the family and the Phoenix Police Department chief vows to conduct an internal investigation. But this is not enough.

Add your name to this Care2 petition to call for the immediate firing on the officers involved and for them to face criminal charges for battery and false imprisonment. These individuals were not "protecting and serving" by terrorizing this family over something so blatantly trivial!
