The Egyptian Kennel Club (EKC) is to be an official not-for-profit regulatory and informative body for the national canine community. The EKC will take the form of a national kennel club and will actively seek endorsement by the World Canine Organisation (Federation Cynologique Internationale %u2013 FCI). The FCI overseas official national kennel clubs in 84 countries worldwide.† Creating such an organisation here in Egypt would benefit the wider canine community and the wellbeing of dogs in general.

The primary objective of the EKC would be to promote in every way, the general improvement of dogs in Egypt (breeds, cross breeds as well as street dogs). The EKC will achieve this through a number of initiatives such as a policed accredited breeder and trainer schemes, health screening for breeding stock, awareness campaigns and an unparalleled information portal, maintaining an all-breed registry and more.

Since dog breeding is becoming ever more popular in Egypt and with rising demand this practice is unlikely to be disappear any time soon, regulating the practice of breeding as well as the sale of dogs becomes an ever more critical affair.

The EKC will also help bring the canine community together and will actively promote responsible dog ownership and canine sports. The EKC is to offer dog owners an unparalleled source of information, experience and advice on dog welfare, dog health, dog training and dog breeding.
