License crossbows as section 1 firearms

Crossbows are lethal weapons . They are fired like firearms and can be carried fully loaded. They are far more dangerous than air rifles but require virtually zero checks to buy one.
The police treat crossbows as section 1 firearms and so give them a very high level of respect, yet there are no records on who owns them or if they may have a criminal recored . It is for these reasons I feel that they should be licensed .
