If you haven't heard of it, gay conversion therapy is a place where parents can send their children identifying within the LGBTQ community to change, or "fix" their sexual orientation. It sounds wrong, and that's right, it is because it is wrong to try and make someone different than who they are. And that's only what you see on the surface.
These "therapists" are forcing minors into prayer and other religious practices, even if they are not religious. Just because some people are unaccepting, doesn't mean that you can try and change someone. And while these people have "good intentions" from their viewpoint, youths who are forced into gay conversion therapy were:
-More than 8 times as likely to have attempted suicide
-Nearly 6 times as likely to report high levels of depression
-More than 3 times as likely to have used illegal drugs
-More than 3 times as likely to be at high risk for HIV and STDs
This type of therapy has also been scientifically proven to be largely ineffective, as well as harmful in other aspects. So why is it still legal in 33 states?
