This Actor's Film Is Up for 10 Oscars, But the US Won't Give Him a Visa to Attend

Roma is one of the most talked about films in this year's Oscar nominations. Unfortunately, one of its lead actors, Jorge Antonio Guerrero, may not even get to attend the ceremony since the US keeps denying him a tourist visa to visit.

Mexican actor, Guerrero, who plays Fermín in the film, has applied for a tourist visa three times in 2018 alone. His producers even wrote an official request for him to be able to travel to the US from Mexico but he has been denied every single time.

The official reason for constant visa denial is still unclear. In an interview with El Sol de Tijuana, Guerrero expressed that he visa was denied even after Netflix got involved. The article reports that the visa denial may have "some relation to the appearance of the actor" and that comments made during the application process suggested that processors believed that "he was looking for work [in the U.S.]".

This is incredibly unjust! This actor may have to miss an incredible moment in his career because the US can't get it together on immigration. If it's this hard for a famous actor to legally visit the US, it must be that much more difficult for the typical person. There's not doubt about it, our immigration and travel processes are really messed up and this man shouldn't pay for that.
